Biopolymer–Polysiloxane Double Network Aerogels
نویسندگان
چکیده
Transparent aerogels of biopolymer–polysiloxane double networks have been developed. In their Research Article (e202306518), Satoru Takeshita and Takumi Ono established a sequential protocol for condensation methyltrimethoxysilane crosslinking various biopolymers such as alginate, carrageenan, pectin, carboxymethyl cellulose in the same space. The drawbacks or polysiloxane alone can be overcome homogeneous composites, opening up new concept functional aerogels.

Nanostructured layered double hydroxide aerogels with enhanced adsorption properties.
Aerogels of layered double hydroxides were prepared by a simple and eco-friendly method involving a quick coprecipitation followed by supercritical CO(2) drying. Such aerogels display high surface areas and enhanced adsorption behavior.
متن کاملHigh porosity polyethylene aerogels
Monolithic aerogels of high molecular weight polyethylene (Mw= 3x106- 6x106 g/mol) have been prepared by solvent extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide from thermoreversible gels prepared in decalin. These low density and highly porous aerogels present an apparent porosity up to 90%. The aerogel morphology observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is characterized by spherulitic stru...
متن کاملChitin Nanowhisker Aerogels
Chitin nanowhiskers are structured into mesoporous aerogels by using the same benign process used previously in our group to make cellulose nanowhisker aerogels. The nanowhiskers are sonicated in water to form a hydrogel before solvent-exchange with ethanol and drying under supercritical CO2 (scCO2 ). Aerogels are prepared with various densities and porosities, relating directly to the initial ...
متن کامل2 SiO 2 Aerogels
This chapter focuses on one of the most studied aerogel materials, silica aerogels. It aims at presenting a brief overview of the elaboration steps (sol–gel synthesis, aging, and drying), the textural and chemical characteristics (aggregation features, porosity, and surface chemistry), the main physical properties (from thermal, mechanical, acoustical, and optical, to biological, medical, etc.)...
متن کاملGas flow through aerogels
Aerogels have an extraordinarily large internal surface area which is accessible via open pores, making them candidates for filters and gas adsorption media. The idea is frequently included in lists of potential applications, but little research has been conducted on the use of aerogels as filters or adsorption media. Consideration of aerogels for use as aerosol collection media requires knowle...
